Scully has played just one NAB Cup game this year as he battles with the persistent injury.
But Melbourne's injury update released on Tuesday afternoon revealed that Scully only had to pass a fitness test to be able to play for Melbourne or VFL team Casey this week.
The Demons take on Carlton on Friday night, while Casey plays Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval.
Scully has not played since injuring his knee in Melbourne’s loss to the Brisbane Lions at Visy Park in March. He was diagnosed with bone stress in his left patella and the Demons took a conservative approach to his recovery.
He missed just one game last year as he finished second to Swan Dan Hannebery in the NAB AFL Rising Star.
While he has barely taken the field this year, Scully has regularly attracted headlines for persistent rumours linking him to the new Greater Western Sydney team.
The injury news is not as good for defender Luke Tapscott who will miss the next three matches after injuring his hamstring in Saturday's loss to St Kilda.
