THINK you know Brad Green? Well, think again, as the captain offers a fascinating insight into what makes him tick in ‘Quarter-time: 25 questions with … Brad Green’

1 - What is your nickname?
I don’t really have a nickname. It’s just ‘Greeny’.

2 - What is your earliest childhood memory?
Wow. I remember I was in kindergarten and then going to school. I remember one time I got a full bucket of water tipped on me and I cracked it.

3 - What is the scariest moment in your life?
I’ve got no phobias or anything like that. But going into the birth of my child was pretty scary.

4 - What is the most courageous thing you have done?
I’ve bungy jumped before.

5 - What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
People see sportsmen as out there, but I’m a shy type of guy, who loves to do normal things.

6 - Who did you barrack for as a kid?
I was a Carlton supporter growing up - a Blue bagger.

7 - Who was your footy idol growing up?
Even though I was a Carlton supporter growing up, I just loved watching Nathan Buckley. I loved and admired his skill and everything he did.

8 - Who is the most famous person you have met?
Probably David Beckham.

9 - Who is your hero and why?
As a kid growing up, I was a big Michael Jordan fan. I loved watching him play and the way he played the game. Whenever Chicago was down, he would always complete a three-point shot when needed on the siren.

10 - What is your signature dish?
I haven’t got a bad spag bol, but they’re not hard to make.

11 - What is the most embarrassing moment of your life?
I remember playing a game against Essendon in 2003 or 2004 and I thought I kicked a goal and celebrated, but it was a point. I was only three metres out.

12 - What is the most interesting place you have traveled to?
I’ve been fortunate enough to do a bit of traveling. I’ve been to New Your City, the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. I’ve been to the Great Barrier Reef here and that’s fantastic. Going over to London and seeing the historic things through England was great, as was traveling to Ireland. But the best place I’ve been to is New York City.

13 - What is the oldest item in your wardrobe that you still wear?
Funnily enough, I’ve still got clothes that I brought over when I moved from Tassie in 1999. There might be a pair of shorts or jeans still in there.

14 - What was the last concert you went to?
It’s been a while since I went to my last concert. Last year, I went to Rihanna with my wife Anna.

15 - What’s your favourite band/artist?
I’ve always been a big ‘Live’ fan.

16 - What is your favourite movie?
It would have to be either Jaws, which I watched heaps as a kid, or The Shawshank Redemption.

17 - If you could have any five people over for dinner, who would they be? Wow. The American president Barack Obama; I wouldn’t mind getting into his head and finding out what he thinks about the world. I’m a big sports fan, so Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, before everything happened, but we still might invite him over to find out what happened! I’ve always been a big Kieren Perkins fan, even though I’ve never met him and Don Bradman, if he was still alive.

18 - Who is your favourite player at Melbourne and why?
Probably ‘LJ’, Liam Jurrah. For where he’s come from and to even be living in the big smoke. To live life the way he does, to get out on the footy field and do what he does best - he’s a great story at our football club. His talent overall - we haven’t even tapped into half of it yet. We haven’t seen any of it. If we can harness what ‘LJ’ has got and get him to work on his strengths and weaknesses, ‘LJ’ is going to be an excitement machine for everyone in the AFL - not just at Melbourne.

19 - When was the last time you cried?
Probably at the birth of my son.

20 - What is your most prized possession?
My wife would probably say my mobile phone, so I’ll say that.

21 - I know it’s not cool, but I really like ...
Listening to all of the sports channels on radio - all of the boys bag me for that and not as much music.

22 - If I wasn’t working in my current job, I would be …
Hopefully I would’ve continued my cricket career or pursued soccer.

23 - Who would play you in the movie of your life?
You’d want a good actor, so I’ll say Matt Damon.

24 - What is your life motto?
I try and live every day as if it’s my last.

25 - How would you like to be remembered?
I’ve always thought about being remembered by earning the respect of the people around here. I hope to be respected for the way I’ve gone about my football and what I do on and off the field. Hopefully, you can be remembered for being a strong person and strong leader and have earned respect.
