MELBOURNE AFLW Senior Coach Mick Stinear has signed a new one-year contract with the Demons to take his tenure to ten seasons.
The new deal will make the much-loved Stinear one of the longest serving coaches in the league, and one of only two coaches to remain in the competition since the inaugural season in 2017.
General Manager of AFLW Marcus Wagner vocalised the club’s support for Stinear and expressed his delight at the coach’s new contract.
“Mick is highly regarded and respected both within our club and in the wider football industry. We are thrilled that he has agreed to lead our AFLW program for another year,” Wagner said.
“Since his first season with the club in 2017, he has brought unwavering dedication, passion, and creativity to his role every day, and built close relationships with staff and players that make our people feel proud to belong.
“He is continuously looking for ways to grow and improve, and we are looking forward to what he and the team can achieve together in 2025.”
Stinear has brought Melbourne sustained success through his tenure, having coached 87 games with 62 wins – an impressive 71 percent success rate.
The jewel in his crown of achievements to date was leading Melbourne’s AFLW team to two Grand Finals and a Premiership in 2022.
With a new contract in hand, the 40-year-old will be hoping to add to that success in 2025.
