No mind games from Neeld
Mark Neeld says he won’t be getting involved in any pre-match hype with Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy in the lead-up to Sunday’s inaugural clash aga
Speaking on The Coach’s Office on DeeTV, Neeld said his sole focus was getting his side to play four competitive quarters against GWS.
“Probably the last thing that I’m going to do is get involved with any stuff - I’m not playing mind games with Kevin Sheedy,” he said.
“He’s got a young group that is playing a really solid brand of footy and they’re obviously being coached extremely well.
“We know that we’re in for a really competitive game of footy on the weekend and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Neeld said the Melbourne coaching staff was impressed with the 18th AFL side when it watched the Giants fall 12 points short against Richmond at Skoda Stadium last round.
“We’re clearly focused on GWS for this week,” he said.
“They’re certainly on an upward curve and they’re playing a really solid competitive, hard-at-it brand of footy.
“We went up and had a look at them playing the Tigers and they were really impressive - they’ve got some unbelievably good young talent.
“And they’ve got some older guys who are playing some really important roles in regards to coaching on the ground and leading the way in the desire.”
