MELBOURNE is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Auskick centres in the City of Casey for 2011.

The partnership, aimed at providing assistance to Auskick centres and supporting the growth of football at grassroots level in the region, was officially launched at the club’s training base - Casey Fields - last week, with representatives from all 23 Auskick centres.

Melbourne development and VFL affiliate Casey Scorpions coach Brad Gotch addressed the coordinators and district managers about the important role they play in the participants’ development both on and off the field.

Gotch, who was also an Auskick coordinator before he began his AFL career, left the group with some guidance.

“If I could leave you with some advice it is to ensure the participants have fun, learn the basics and understand the importance of play,” he said.

Auskick Ambassadors Jack Grimes and Liam Jurrah will support the program through player visits, delivering key messages and providing an insight into the pathway of an AFL footballer.

The partnership will benefit Auskick centres, and includes;:
* Demons pack including Sherrin footballs, stickers, drink bottles, posters and MFC merchandise
* Player visit
* Coach education
* Inner sanctum experience
* Demons Award
* Free MFC Auskick jumpers
* Free ticketing to MFC home matches

Regional development manager of the Outer Southern/Peninsula region, Michael Roberts said: “The partnership between the Melbourne Football Club and the City of Casey based NAB Auskick centres is a wonderful initiative.”

“It recognises and solidifies a long term grassroots commitment from an AFL club toward the most basic grassroots sector of Australian football, the Auskick centre, and the support that this will bring to our communities can only help grow the code and encourage healthy and active lifestyles in our children through the vehicle of Australian football.”

Melbourne looks forward to assisting Auskick centres and supporting grassroots football at community level.
