Todd Viney’s season assessment
Rohan had an injury-interrupted year. He started the year off as a run-with player and did some really good roles. Unfortunately, he injured his knee against North Melbourne in round eight at Etihad Stadium. He returned to play the last game of the season against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Rohan showed his running skills and his ability to run and carry the ball through the lines.

Round-by-round assessment
Comments made by 2011 Melbourne coaching staff members Mark Williams, Brad Gotch and Kelly O’Donnell

AFL: Round 1 v Sydney Swans
Rohan did a great job on Josh Kennedy. He worked him over, and ran hard with him and off him. Kennedy cramped in the last quarter, so we released Rohan in the last quarter, so we could try to use his run. And he ended up running well in the last term. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 2 v Hawthorn
Rohan did a great job on Sam Mitchell. He really attacked the ball hard and we thought Rohan was among our better players. He played his role. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 3 v Brisbane Lions
He did a great job on Simon Black, who is a champion for the Lions. Rohan’s kicking percentage was 78 per cent and he also had five scoring involvements. He continued to improve each week. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 4 v Gold Coast Suns
Rohan did a very good job on Daniel Harris and when we let him off the leash, he provided plenty of run and carry with the ball. He kicked an impressive goal - albeit off his shin - but he continued to impress again. Rohan had 23 disposals for the second consecutive match. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 5 - Bye

AFL: Round 6 v West Coast Eagles
Rohan has been given some big jobs this season and has done some great work. He copped a slight knock early, which slowed him down. But he continued to focus on the job at hand and although he was probably beaten on the day, he got another game under his belt and gained further experience from playing on an elite player in the competition. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 7 v Adelaide Crows
Rohan had another solid performance. He defended well, attacked the ball aggressively and made some good decisions with the ball. Mark Williams

AFL: Round 8 v North Melbourne
Rohan stood Daniel Wells, who is a very important player for North. He continued to gain valuable experience by playing on the competition guns and learned from this experience. It was unfortunate Ro was injured in the second half, as he had been a good contributor up until this stage of the season. Mark Williams

VFL reserves: Round 20 v Coburg Tigers
Rohan played 60 per cent game time. It was his first game back after a lengthy lay off. He kicked a couple of nice goals and got into the play and used his running capacity. But he needed the run to show he would be available for Casey seniors the following week. Brad Gotch

VFL seniors: Round 21 v Werribee Tigers
Rohan was good in his first senior VFL game for the season. He settled into stride very quickly and had 22 touches. He naturally tired in the final quarter, given it was just his second match back from injury, but his run was there, along with some really efficient handball. He had eight team acts and was really impressive. Brad Gotch

VFL seniors: Round 22 v Northern Bullants
Rohan was just short of being excellent. His decision making and use of the footy was a feature, plus his run and ability to win the footy 27 times. He made something happen with it, which was a real highlight. Added to this, his kicking was much tidier this match. Brad Gotch

AFL: Round 24 v Port Adelaide
Rohan’s tackling and pressure was very good. He was very solid on David Rodan and held him really well. Although Rodan kicked two goals, he had little influence on the game. Rohan turned defence into attack on several occasions by driving hard through the ball, and counter attacking at pace. Mark Williams

VFL: Semi-final v Werribee Tigers
Rohan ran strongly to provide linking opportunities, but he really needed to use the ball better in order to have had a greater influence on the game. Kelly O’Donnell
