The tenacious ball-winner spoke of his desire to return to the leadership group after he was relinquished of his position. He was stood down after being drunk at a St Kilda nightspot in the early hours on Monday.
“I’m doing everything I can to win it back,” Moloney said.
“It’s not setting the right example.”
Moloney also said sorry to the Melbourne members and supporters, adding that it was not model behaviour.
“[It’s] very embarrassing. I pride myself on my leadership and when I got the vice-captaincy it was a great honour,” he said.
“To be getting that taken away from me is very disappointing.
“I’ve let myself down, I’ve let the club down and I’ve let my family down.”
