PAULRoos has wasted no time in assembling a new-look football department,appointing dual North Melbourne premiership player and 2005 Sydney Swanspremiership coaching panel member Brett Allison to Melbourne’s coaching team.
Allison,who played in the 1996 and 1999 flags for the Kangaroos, has joined the Demonsafter being an assistant coach at North Melbourne since 2010.
Hewas in charge of the forwards at the Roos in 2013.
Beforethat, Allison, nicknamed ‘Fruity’, spent nine years as a development coach withthe Swans, where he oversaw the AFL NSW/ACT program and then the Sydneyreserves team.
Heplayed 219 matches with the Kangaroos from 1987-99 and made nine appearanceswith the Swans in 2000.
Allison,the son of former North Melbourne player Tom (who played 106 matches and kicked61 goals from 1963-70), was originally recruited from Belconnen in theAustralian Capital Territory.
Aclassy half-forward/forward pocket, Allison was a sharpshooter around goal andexcellent at crumbing off the pack.
Heplayed seven State of Origin matches and took one of the greatest ever marks in1991, when he sprung over Collingwood’s Gavin Crosisca at the MCG.
