NATHAN Jones has enjoyed the role of mentoring Melbourne’s second pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft – No.3 overall – Angus Brayshaw, in his first year at the Demons.
The captain holds high regard for Brayshaw, having not missed a beat in his first season—playing all nine games so far.
“Gus and I get along pretty well. I just really enjoy his intensity, he’s a young player with no burden of the past and I think that’s really refreshing for someone like me,” he said at the MCG on Wednesday.
“He just comes in and attacks the game and plays footy in its purest form and that’s what I love about him.
“I think he’s really starting to find his groove and he’s been terrific over the past few weeks and he was one of our better players on the weekend.”
After comparing fellow Demon Jesse Hogan to Brisbane Lions great Jonathan Brown, the skipper was asked who he believes Brayshaw draws comparisons with.
“I’m going to say Joel Selwood,” Jones said with a smile.
