COACH Paul Roos says youngster Angus Brayshaw will be assessed during the week, after he copped another concussion in the VFL on the weekend.

Brayshaw suffered a knock playing for Casey in its win over Sandingham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday.

Speaking after Melbourne’s 32-point loss against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG on Sunday, Roos said Brayshaw would be monitored over the next few days.

“He got another knock yesterday (Saturday). That’s an issue for all clubs now – concussion,” he said.

“It’s certainly an issue that as an industry we need to have a discussion on.

“If you’re talking about game day, [Gold Coast Suns coach] Rocket (Rodney Eade) brought up having a sub – an extra player and that’s something I’d support to be honest.

“The Angus one is a bit different – it’s a bit more ‘how will he be next week?’ It’s the care factor and I reckon by Wednesday we’ll have an idea of whether he plays the following week or not.”

Roos said Melbourne’s medical team would make a decision on Brayshaw during the week.
