MELBOURNE has delisted midfielder/half-forward Ben Kennedy, bringing the total number of list changes to five since the end of the 2017 season.
Kennedy joins former co-captain Jack Trengove, long-serving ruckman Jake Spencer, rookie Mitch White and young tall forward Liam Hulett as other recent players to depart the club.
Selected at No.19 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, Kennedy played 25 games for Collingwood from 2013-15 before crossing over to Melbourne at the end of the 2015 season.
After playing 15 games for the red and blue in 2016, Kennedy was unable to secure a spot in the senior side in 2017.
General manager of football operations Josh Mahoney thanked Kennedy for his service over the last two years.
“After a solid first year at the club, Ben was unable to break into our AFL team in 2017,” Mahoney told melbournefc.com.au.
“We commend Ben on the way he handled himself through the year, when it can be frustrating not playing at AFL level. In the second half of the season his commitment could never be questioned and he continued to perform strongly at VFL level.”
“We thank Ben for his two years at the club and hope he gets another opportunity at AFL level”
