MELBOURNE’S Harvey Langford has been recognised for his performance against the Gold Coast SUNS, earning the Round 3 AFL Rising Star nomination.
The acknowledgement comes just two games into his AFL journey, where he tallied 26 disposals, 15 of which were contested, 10 score involvements and six clearances on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
The strong-bodied midfielder also managed his first major at the top level, kicking a goal on the run from near on 50m out in the final term.
Saturday’s game saw Dees fans get a true sense of Langford’s power and attack, having only seen a glimpse in Round 1 when he made his AFL debut as the starting substitute.
At 191cm tall, Langford joined Melbourne with pick No.6 in last year’s National Draft, arriving from the Dandenong Stingrays.
The 19-year-old impressed on the training track over the summer, with the future looking bright.
