MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey has praised the professionalism of Brad Green after the forward’s five-goal haul against the Swans on Sunday.

Green was instrumental in the surprise 73-point win on Sunday. The 29-year-old has had a career-best season so far after battling injury over the past couple of years.

Speaking after the game, Bailey said Green’s determination to come back from injury was a shining example for his teammates.

“He’s just a star. Brad Green is a star for us. Last year he spent 12 months icing his ankle and his achilles three times a week straight after the game,” Bailey said.

“What he went through in the last two years to get himself to play is extraordinary and this year he has had a good pre-season, he hasn’t got any injuries. He’s not carrying soreness into the next game.

"He is a beauty, every accolade you can throw at him, I’m with you.”

The midfielder/forward has been heavily in front of goals in 2010 but the Demons coach said he still couldn’t say where he preferred to position him.

“He’s an effective player if he plays through the middle of the ground ... He has shown this year that he has been super effective for us up forward when we were struggling for guys up forward to mark it and kick goals,” he said.

“We had limited inside-50s and he still produced. If I could have two of him, that would be great. We’ll clone him next week.”

The 73-point difference was the biggest of any win Bailey has coached, but he was hesitant to label it his best yet.

“We haven’t won too many so there are not too many to compare it with. I think that would be one of our better wins,” he said.

Bailey’s only headache was how to nullify Adam Goodes. The two-time Brownlow medallist had 27 disposals and kicked four goals to easily be his side’s best. But Bailey said he never wavered from giving youngster Cale Morton the job on the dangerous Swan.

“I think we were always going to lay the challenge down to Cale. Adam Goodes has been in scintillating form over the past few weeks. It was always going to be a big challenge for Cale and I think he learnt a fair bit today; he learnt a fair bit on positioning,” he said.

“I think you’ve got to challenge young blokes and he got challenged today. I know that going through his mind he’s still going through the things that Goodes did. Hopefully Cale will be a better player for it - I'm sure he will be.”
