CHRISTIAN Petracca has topped Melbourne’s 2024 Brownlow Medal tally, receiving 16 votes during Monday night’s count.
Prior to the Demon’s season-ending injury during Round 13, the 28-year-old polled votes across seven games, including a trio of consecutive three-vote performances.
Petracca wasn’t the only Demon celebrated for strong displays with 12 Melbourne players collecting a total of 67 votes.
Max Gawn was next in line behind Petracca with the second most votes for the red and blue, polling 13 from six games of recognition.
Across the team’s 23 matches, six players were named best afield with Gawn, Petracca, Clayton Oliver, Trent Rivers, Jack Viney and Harrison Petty all deemed the top players on 10 occasions.
Judd McVee and Rivers collected their first career votes on the night. McVee was recognised for his Round 7 performance while Rivers was recognised across three games - Rounds 17, 18 and 23.
Oliver, Gawn and Petracca’s votes push them to second, third and fourth on Melbourne’s overall leaderboard for Brownlow votes behind club legend Robert Flower.
