MELBOURNE has completed an extensive review of Melbourne’s 61-point loss against Port Adelaide at Traeger Park.
Forward line coach Dan McPherson said the Demons were bitterly disappointed with the way the game finished in Alice Springs and the review showed plenty of frustrating areas, particularly after half-time.
“We started really well and we were following our plans and everything was looking OK and then to have such a bad fadeout in the second half was really disappointing,” he told Dee TV.
“It’s a matter of getting the boys back on track with the game plan, because they’ve shown [they can execute it] with our victories during the year, and in a lot of games during the year.
“When we stick to our game plan and they carry out their role, they can be really successful.
“They were showing that in the first 45 minutes of the game on the weekend against a team that was preliminary finalist last year.
“They (Port Adelaide) had been struggling a little bit, but they showed by the end of the game that they’re a pretty good team and we allowed them to get up and running and get their style of footy back.”
