CASEY coach Brad Gotch runs through the Melbourne-listed players who played for the Scorpions in round 22

Troy Davis: Troy conceded just the one goal again this game, so he was very good defensively. He got back to winning the ball more this week, with 24 possessions, and took nine marks as well, which created a number of turnovers.

Matthew Bate: Matthew spent more time in the midfield this week because of Tom McNamara and Neville Jetta going into the seniors. He ended up with a season high 38 touches, thirteen marks and two goals, plus numerous involvements in our scoring chains. His ability to be clean and agile in tight was eye catching.

Matthew Warnock: With nineteen possessions and five marks, including thirteen handballs, Matthew led the backline superbly yet again. He didn’t concede a goal, either, and went about setting up many rebound opportunities through his constructive handball and run.

Lynden Dunn: Lynden contributed nicely to the win with two goals, two behinds, eleven possessions and his strong voice and encouragement. It was his first game back in a few weeks, and he made a very good contribution.

Jack Fitzpatrick: While Jack only managed three touches in the first half, he got split and looked a dangerous option at times. Jack finished up with four goals, thirteen touches and six marks, which was a very good return on the day.

Robert Campbell: Rob started back on Hampson, and made some strong defensive involvements before going into the midfield. Here, he had a big impact with his ruck work and follow up ground ball efforts.

Daniel Nicholson: Dan played back, wing and midfield this week, which provided good experience for him. He collected 25 possessions, but unfortunately didn’t use them all as well as we would have liked. He worked extremely hard, and looked great at times running with the ball, but has to remember that the use of it is the important factor.

Kelvin Lawrence: This game was a really consistent effort from Kel over four quarters, but he cost himself a very good rating because he kicked three behinds and one out on the full. He had nine pressure skill acts, which is excellent.

Rohan Bail: Rohan was just short of being excellent, with his decision making and use of the footy being a feature, plus his run and ability to win the footy 27 times, as well as make something happen with it, was a real highlight. Added to this, his kicking was much tidier this week.

Max Gawn: Max started really strongly with eight possessions, but ended up with only thirteen for the match. He took five marks - three of those being contested - and used the ball very well by foot. His ruck skills gave the mids every possible chance, which was important.

Michael Newton: Michael was a bit rusty, considering that it was his first game in about twelve weeks. However, he took four marks, and kicked one goal, two behinds. He will be better for the run.
