The Melbourne Football Club has announced the results of the 2024 Board election, which saw a record-breaking voter turnout with 23% of eligible voting members participating in the election.  This represents a 50% increase on the club’s previous highest voter turnout.

The Board endorsed candidates – Steven Smith, Sally Freeman, Dr. Angela Williams and Chris Barlow – received overwhelming support from members, securing their election to the Board.

This comprehensive outcome demonstrates the faith that members have placed in the club’s leadership and their shared vision for the future.

President Brad Green expressed his gratitude for the members’ strong engagement in this important process.

“The incredible turnout for this election is a testament to the unity, passion and dedication of our members. To see a record-breaking number of voting members come together to shape the future of the Melbourne Football Club is inspiring” Green said.

“The overwhelming support for the Board endorsed candidates – Steven, Sally, Angela and Chris – is a clear sign of our members’ confidence in the direction of the club. Their diverse expertise, fresh ideas and commitment to our shared values of Trust, Respect, Unity and Excellence will strengthen our leadership team and guide us into an exciting new chapter.”

“I am deeply honoured by the faith our members have shown in the club and its leadership. This outcome reflects the unity and stability we have worked hard to build and I couldn’t be more optimistic about what lies ahead for the Melbourne Football Club.”

The newly elected Board will play a pivotal role in driving the club’s key priorities, including appointing a new Chief Executive Officer, advancing the Caulfield Training and Administration Facility project, strengthening on-field performances from both our AFL and AFLW teams, bolstering financial stability and deepening member engagement.
