KOBE Farmer, the son of former Melbourne great Jeff, will commence training with the club in January following the Christmas break.

The 18-year-old forward represented the Peel Thunder this year in the WAFL, before COVID-19 interrupted the season.

He missed out on selection during the AFL Draft period, however, he could potentially land one of two remaining vacancies on the Demons’ rookie list.

Melbourne List Manager, Tim Lamb, said it would be a chance for Farmer to put his best foot forward and make the most of this opportunity.

“As a list management team, we have been tracking Kobe’s progress for a number of years, and we thought this would be a great opportunity to get a closer look at him,” he told Melbourne Media.

“We are pleased that Kobe has accepted the offer to train with the team throughout the pre-season and we look forward to welcoming him to training in January.”

Should Melbourne elect to sign Farmer, he will be able to join the list through the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period, which closes in early March.
