BALL movement coach Mark Williams runs through the 22 players who played in Melbourne’s 88-point loss against Collingwood at the MCG

Clint Bartram: Although his defensive game was good on Alan Didak, Clint made a few disposal errors that detracted from his game.

Jamie Bennell: Jamie had a quiet game. He didn’t have enough influence or provide enough rebound from defence.

Michael Evans: Michael came on later in the game and got five possessions. He continues to learn from each game he plays.

James Frawley: He won the ball well, but lacked the zip that he’s renowned for out of the backline. Chippa uncharacteristically turned the ball over a couple of times by foot.

Max Gawn: Maxy gave us a good contest in the ruck and worked hard around the ground. He must continue to work on his positioning, reading the play and reacting to the ball movement ahead of the play.

Brad Green: Brad couldn’t get into space and couldn’t get a clear run at the ball, because of the close checking from the Collingwood defenders. He missed a couple of scoring opportunities he would usually kick.

Jordan Gysberts: Jordie had an average game. He didn’t involve himself physically enough at stoppages and didn’t use his running ability to impact in general play.

Jeremy Howe: Howey’s work rate was fantastic. He took some strong marks and moved the ball on quickly. He also had four scoring involvements and defended with intent.

Neville Jetta: Nev was working hard until he was injured early in the first quarter. He played on until he could no longer tolerate the pain. His aggression was good and he won some hard ball one-on-one contests.

Nathan Jones: Nathan was continually involved in the game. His consistency is due to his work rate. He must continue to move the ball on quickly and make good decisions when disposing of the ball.

Liam Jurrah: Liam couldn’t get free to have an influence on the game. He didn’t work hard enough to get himself free. He played the game on the opposition’s terms.

Joel Macdonald: Joel was very good one-on-one. He took some good intercept marks and his physicality was evident.

Stefan Martin: Stef battled hard in the ruck. He gave us first use with some good taps. He must continue to work hard around the ground and give our team an option to use in transition through the midfield.

Jordie McKenzie: Worked away diligently on Scott Pendlebury, but was probably beaten on the day. He did everything he could to try and curb Pendlebury’s influence.

Brent Moloney: Beamer worked hard at stoppages and spreading. He won the ball well, but we didn’t get as much as we would’ve liked out of his disposal.

Cale Morton: Cale did a great job on Heath Shaw and continued his involvement in the game, when released after half-time. It was pleasing to see him get back to support our defence in the third quarter and maintain his work-rate late in the game.

Jared Rivers: We didn’t give Jared enough support. He was beaten by Travis Cloke one-on-one, but showed great maturity and concentration by maintaining his aggression and intensity to stay involved in the game.

Tom Scully: Tom worked hard as always, but his disposal efficiency was down a bit. But his involvement in the game was good.

James Strauss: Straussy had a solid game. He had 21 disposals and nine handball receives. He kicked the ball well and maintained his defensive focus for four quarters.

Colin Sylvia: Col started very strongly and had an impact on the scoreboard. He finished with four goals. We need Colin focused on his defensive work rate to help us turn the ball over inside our forward 50, which will provide more scoring opportunities for our team.

Jack Trengove: Jack had 17 disposals and was a solid contributor without having a big impact. He had nine handball receives.

Jack Watts: Wattsy was up and about early. He had 19 disposals for the game and his work-rate was good. Jack continues to improve his ball use and progress with his physicality.
