I CAME across a young kid at a school clinic recently and he said to me: "why did the jelly baby go to school? Because he wanted to be a smarty."

I thought this was fantastic. And I must say that anyone who has picked up Stefan Martin in this year's Dream Team is most definitely a 'smarty'.

I touched on Stef’s fantastic start to the year a few weeks ago, and he hasn’t slowed down as he continues to impress the Dream Team world.

After scoring a handy 76 on the weekend and holding an average of 82 points per game, Martin looks like being one of the best backline pickups of the season. He has so far risen to $167,900 in price, staring in the absence of the injured Mark Jamar.

Young gun Jack Watts again pleased Dream Team coaches on Monday, producing a tidy 98 points against the Pies. This followed on from his 88 the previous week.

At the half-way mark of the season, Colin Sylvia is the highest scoring Demon with a total of 1,046 points for the season.

Looking for a movie career after his recent success in 'Beamers Bumps & Bruisers', Brent Moloney is also on fire on the field. He is second on the scoring list with 1,029 points and a average of 93 points per game.

As a team, the Demons are averaging 1574 points per game and sit in sixth position in the AFL for total points scored this season.
