MELBOURNE’S Jake Melksham will pull on the red and blue guernsey again next season, having signed a one-year deal with the club.
The much-loved forward secured his future this week, with the fresh deal to mark a decade as a Demon and 16 seasons at the elite level.
It follows a year where Melksham made a successful return to AFL, rehabbing an ACL injury in just 10 months to assimilate back into the Dees’ line-up and have immediate impact.
The 33-year-old will continue to add class, composure and experience to Melbourne’s list, while helping to develop those around him.
“We are really pleased to offer Jake another contract and extend his time in the red and blue,” Demons’ List Manager Tim Lamb said.
“Jake is an incredibly diligent athlete, and the dedication he showed to get himself back to AFL level was testament to this.
“Jake has had significant impact on our program and broader club since arriving 10 years ago. He continues to push himself to be the best player and teammate he can be, and we look forward him playing another important role for us in 2025.”
Making his return to AFL in Round 17, Melksham played eight games this past season, taking his tally to 229. He also added eight majors to his 188-goal count.
The former Bomber was drafted with pick No.10 in the 2009 National Draft and played 114 matches before joining Melbourne in 2016.
