CASEY has bounced back from its one-point loss to the Footscray Bulldogs last week to defeat Sandringham by 46 points at Casey Fields on Sunday.
The Scorpions 12.20 (92) defeated the Zebras 7.4 (46) and sit second on the ladder with 10 wins and three losses.
Williamstown sits on top of the ladder, with 11 wins and three losses.
After trailing by three points at quarter-time, Casey hit back to lead at half-time by 19 points and nine points at three quarter-time.
In the final term, the Scorpions booted 5.7 and held the Zebras scoreless to double Sandringham’s final score.
Tough-nut Ben Kennedy, who returned to the VFL for just the second time this year, had 34 disposals and shone for Casey.
Fellow ball-winners Viv Michie (33 disposals and one goal) and Jack Grimes (31 and one goal) were also among the best for the Scorpions.
A host of Melbourne-listed players were also among the key ball-winners, including Jack Trengove (28), Clayton Oliver (28), Tomas Bugg (27), Colin Garland (25) and Ben Newton (25 and a goal).
Defender-turned-forward Dean Terlich led Casey’s goalkicking for the match with four majors.
Young key forward Liam Hulett booted two goals.
Meanwhile, in the AFL Victoria Development League, Jay Kennedy-Harris had 30 disposals and Christian Salem had 22 possessions, after coming back from injuries.
Casey plays Coburg next Saturday at Piranha Park at 2pm.
