AFL-ready draftee Harvey Langford is turning heads at AAMI Park in his first pre-season as a Demon after arriving at the club with selection No.6 in November’s National Draft.
The Dandenong Stingrays co-captain was named the Larke medallist as the U18 State Carnival’s strongest performer, averaging 25 disposals, six marks, six clearances and six inside 50s.
The contested beast’s 191cm frame already looks the part, as has his work on the training track.
“Harvey's come in and hasn't missed a beat,” coach Simon Goodwin said.
“Some of the things he's done at training so far, you just go wow.
“He reminds you of some of the power and contest areas that when Clayton first started and Christian, when they first came in.
Langford plays as a strong-bodied inside midfielder, but his height and aerial ability also make him a danger in front of the sticks.
The first-year Demon is tipped to begin his career as a forward while he learns his craft at AFL level.
If Simon Goodwin’s high praise of the youngster is anything to go by, a debut might not take long.
“He trains with the really high standard,” Goodwin says.
“He works incredibly hard, and he's bought into everything that we're doing.”
