THE DEMONS will head to Cairns in Round 15 to face Sydney off a five-day break.
And while they may have the option of fielding an unchanged side, with the hot weather and compressed fixture approaching, expect to see a number of players rotate through the 22 over the coming weeks.
Take a look at some potential inclusions for Thursday’s clash with the Swans.
Bayley Fritsch
Bayley Fritsch was omitted from last week’s team after arriving late to training, but he should slot straight back into the forward line.
The crafty left footer was dominant in Melbourne’s practice match against the Pies on Friday and has a lot to offer at AFL level.
James Harmes
After 75 consecutive games, James Harmes was left out of Saturday night’s win over the Saints.
But with Michael Hibberd in some doubt with an ankle injury, Harmes could earn a reprieve at half-back.
Jay Lockhart
If Hibberd was to miss, Jay Lockhart is another man in the frame for a return.
He’s become a reliable lockdown defender in 2020 and can play an important role for the Dees when called upon.
Alex Neal-Bullen
Alex Neal-Bullen has missed the past four weeks with suspension, but he has served his time and will be available this week.
Whether he slots straight back into the side is up for debate, but he has a lot to offer as a small forward and deserves another chance at senior level.
Other options
The likes of Jayden Hunt, Tom McDonald and Braydon Preuss have all proven they’re capable contributors and will be waiting for a spot to become available in the side.
While this might not be their week, players will need a rest at some stage, and they will be ready to take their opportunity.
Oskar Baker, Neville Jetta and Corey Wagner are among the other names who continue to impress in the club’s hit-outs at Maroochydore Sports Complex.
