The Melbourne Football Club is an ambassador for the National Sports Museum (NSM) with players regularly attending the NSM school holiday program and having lots of fun with kids on school holiday programs and tours. The ambassador role reflects the Club’s rich shared heritage and connection with the MCG, dating back to the formation of the game itself in 1858.
Colin Sylvia was blown away by the ‘Game On’ Interactive area, and said that he will be coming back in disguise (with a wig and dark glasses) so that he can play on everything for hours! He tweeted following the visit - Went to the National Sports Museum @ the ‘G’ today - impressive set up! Going back to have some fun for sure...
Sylvia helped to coach the kids in the Handball Interactive game, giving some advice on technique and, of course, encouraging all the kids to keep playing footy in order to make it one day in the AFL. Sylvia, together with Spencer and Strauss, spent time participating with the kids in the ‘Game On’ Interactive area of the NSM. Activities included a handball challenge, autograph signing session and quick interview.
The National Sports Museum is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, entry via Gate 3 at the MCG - for more information visit www.nsm.org.au
