RUCKMAN Jake Spencer has signed a new two-year contract with the club, keeping him in the red and blue until at least the end of 2012.

Spencer, who has played eight matches since debuting in 2009, will be elevated from the rookie to senior list as part of his new deal.

The 203cm tall will be entering his fourth AFL season in 2011.

Spencer made just two appearances this year, although a back injury halted his season.

Originally from Queensland, Spencer was claimed at No.35 in the 2008 NAB AFL Rookie Draft (held in December 2007).

Spencer’s new deal comes on the back of the Demons recently re-signing Jack Grimes until at least the end of 2013, while Brent Moloney, Nathan Jones, Clint Bartram and Sam Blease signed two year contracts.
