VERSATILE tall Michael Newton set to miss the next four to six weeks with a foot injury.

Newton has played the past three matches, as Melbourne’s nominated rookie.

But in better news for the injury-hit Demons, the tenacious Clint Bartram is a chance to return against Essendon at the MCG on Friday night.

Bartram missed last round's loss to Carlton with a hip injury.

Tough-nut Luke Tapscott (hamstring), All-Australian ruckman Mark Jamar (knee), runner Rohan Bail (knee) and defender Colin Garland (ankle) remain sidelined, varying from two to five weeks.

Vice-captain Aaron Davey (knee) will be out for six to eight matches.

Leader Jack Grimes (foot) and ruckman Jake Spencer (knee) will miss the rest of the 2011 season.

Young tall Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) is another six weeks away.

Ruckman Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) faces a fitness test to resume with Casey.

But the good news for Melbourne is that Jack Trengove and Lynden Dunn have served their suspension and are eligible to return this round.
