LEADER Nathan Jones says he had no hesitation in committing to the Demons for at least another three seasons.

Before Melbourne’s 42-point win over Gold Coast Suns at the MCG on Sunday, the club announced that Jones and Jeremy Howe had secured deals until 2015.

Jones, who has played 131 matches for the Demons, said there was never an issue of him leaving.

“I was going to stay at the Dees,” he said.

“We’d been negotiating for a while and agreed on terms … I’m just really happy with the decision that I’ve made.

“I’m confident that I can have an impact over the next three years and continue building on the path that Neeldy (Mark Neeld) and Craigy (Neil Craig) and the entire footy department is working towards.”

Jones has arguably had his best AFL season this year. He was again among Melbourne’s best against the Suns.

The midfielder has missed just five matches since he made his AFL debut in round 17, 2006.
