ST KILDA'S determination to bolster its ruck division through this year's Gillette AFL Trade Period continues, with the Saints turning their attention to Carlton big man Rob Warnock.

St Kilda has been trying to negotiate a deal with Gold Coast for most of the trade period to land Suns ruckman Tom Hickey, who wants to return to Melbourne for personal reasons.

However, with a trade no closer to eventuating, The Age reports the Saints have shown interest in Warnock.

The 25-year-old played only five games in 2012, and appears to be behind Matthew Kreuzer and Shaun Hampson in the pecking order at the Blues. That didn’t stop the club handing him a new three-year deal in July.

Meanwhile, Melbourne utility Stefan Martin's future will become clearer after he travels to Brisbane on Tuesday for an interview with the Lions, The Age reports.

As revealed by AFL.com.au last week, the Lions are set on recruiting another key position player having made a bid for Chris Dawes and missing out on Kurt Tippett.

Martin's opportunities at Melbourne seem limited after the Demons' recruitment of Dawes, and likely addition of North Melbourne's ruck-forward Cameron Pedersen.

Port Adelaide and North Melbourne will continue discussions over a trade to send Power defender Ben Jacobs to the Kangaroos, with one of the Kangaroos' second-round picks (No.38 and 39) likely to be involved.

North Melbourne's focus is on trading out Pedersen, which might open up another draft pick to finalise the deal to secure Jacobs, a Victorian who was drafted two years ago but wants to return to his home state.

Tippett's move to the Sydney Swans has not progressed, with Adelaide list manager David Noble forecasting it could be a "final hour" deal.

The Adelaide Advertiser says while the Crows have not ruled out Swans forward Jesse White being a part of the deal, they were hoping Friday's 2pm deadline would force a better offer from the Swans.

"And in the last moments you find things that were not possible early in the trade talks do unfold," Noble said.

"A coach will suddenly agree to release a first-round draft pick."
