MELBOURNE skipper Jack Grimes may miss the Jim Stynes tribute game against the Bulldogs on Sunday, having been offered a one-week ban for his sling tackle on Tiger Daniel Jackson.

In a similar but separate incident, Grimes suffered a knock after tackling Jackson. Demons coach Mark Neeld said Grimes was OK "health wise" from that incident which saw him hit his head on the artificial turf surrounding the MCG surface.

Fellow Demon Nathan Jones has been fined $900 for making negligent contact with an umpire.

But Richmond's Ivan Maric has escaped penalty, despite appearing to strike Melbourne's Jordie McKenzie. The Match Review Panel ruled the contact was with an open hand and lacked the force to be reportable.

Meanwhile, Adam Goodes might have to wait an extra week before his milestone 304th game, after the Sydney Swans co-captain was offered a one-match suspension for his feet-first slide into Port Adelaide's Jacob Surjan at the weekend.

It means instead of breaking the Swans' games record in front of his home crowd at the SCG, he may have to wait until the game against Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium in round five.

The dual Brownlow medallist was suspended for a similar incident in the NAB Cup.

In other round three incidents, Western Bulldogs defender Brian Lake is set to miss a week for his punch to the face of St Kilda's Tom Simpkin.

Carlton's Marc Murphy has been fined $900 for his one-fingered salute towards the Collingwood cheer squad on Friday night.
