MIDFIELDER Brent Moloney expects teammate Tom Scully to play for Casey and not Melbourne this weekend.

Speaking at a joint media conference with Carlton’s Jeremy Laidler to promote Friday night’s ‘Olivia Live at the G’ clash, Moloney said Scully was more likely to return via the VFL.

“I think we all want to see him out there, but I think he probably needs a game down there - just to see how he goes,” he said.

“It’d be pretty tough for him to come back after having seven or eight weeks off.

“To come into a big game on Friday night is a big ask, so I’d say he’d play at Casey.”

With former Demon Brock McLean likely to play against Melbourne for the first time since crossing to Carlton at the end of the 2009 season, Moloney said both parties would be eager to cross paths.

“We’ve got a lot of respect for Brock McLean,” he said.

“He played a lot of good games for the footy club and was a leader of the footy club.

“We’ll just go out there as if it’s another player in a Carlton guernsey, so that’s how we see it.”

Moloney said acknowledged Carlton on the big stage was a challenge, but one the Demons are champing at the bit to take on.

“Carlton this week, they’re a top four team, and they’re red hot at the moment, but we can’t look too far ahead,” he said.

“We’ve got Essendon the week after and then Collingwood, so really we’re just focusing on Carlton this week.”
