Last night, Victorian Premier John Brumby, the Minister for Sport James Merlino, and the Acting Minister for Women's Affairs Lisa Neville hosted a reception in the Melbourne Room at Number 1 Treasury Place to celebrate the fantastic achievements of the Victorian state team.

Mr Brumby congratulated the team and the VWFL on a fantastic result at the championships, as well as acknowledging the important support being provided by the Melbourne Football Club to the VWFL. Victorian captain Shannon McFerrin, seen here with the Premier and Brad Green, spoke of the pressure on the team to win the title and maintain its outstanding record of sixteen consecutive seasons of success at this level.

Needless to say, with the trophy on display as testament to the team’s victory, and the strength of the VWFL competition increasing, anticipation is high for the seventeenth season and well beyond.
