YOUNG Melbourne midfielder Jack Trengove has declared he wants to be a one-club player with the Demons and hopes teammate Tom Scully is alongside him for the ride.

Scully and Trengove were Melbourne's No. 1 and No.2 picks in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft and both had an immediate impact in Melbourne's midfield in their debut season last year.

In recent weeks, Scully has been the subject of speculation linking him with AFL'S 18th franchise, Greater Western Sydney, who are believed to be keen to lure the talented midfielder north.

Radio host and Collingwood president Eddie McGuire added to the conjecture last week, declaring Scully had signed a lucrative deal with GWS.

Scully has put his contract talks with Melbourne on hold until the end of the season, fuelling speculation he may have already signed with the Giants.

While Trengove has no idea whether his teammate will be at the Demons next year, he told afl.com.au that he would love to play out his career at Melbourne with his mate Scully beside him.

"I'd love to be a one club player, it is a great club to be at," Trengove said.

"So far, since I've been drafted, the club have been fantastic to me and I really feel like I owe them something because they drafted me and went all out for me."

"I suppose it's one of those things where you want to be around the best players possible when you play your footy.

"Obviously Sculls is a great player and a real professional off the field and I'd love to play with him [in the future] but it's an issue between Sculls, his manager and the club."

Equally talented, the Giants would have loved to lure Trengove across but the 19-year-old put himself out of reach when he extended his contract with Melbourne until the end of 2012.

A decision, he said, was easy to make.

"I suppose it all went pretty quickly," Trengove told afl.com.au.

"I got drafted and the club offered me a third year and at that point in time I was loving that because you get drafted and you want to be on the list for as long as possible.

"I have no regrets doing that."

Both midfielders should be available for Melbourne's second round NAB Cup clash on Thursday February 24, despite Trengove suffering a minor ankle injury during last Friday night's NAB Cup triple-header.

"I just hurt my ankle a bit in Friday night's game over in Adelaide but it's nothing too serious," Trengove said.

"I'll probably just have a lighter week because we've got an extra week up our sleeve, so it should be fine."
