CASEY coach Brad Gotch runs through the Melbourne-listed players who played for the Scorpions in round 21

Seniors

Casey Scorpions 17.11 (113) d Werribee Tigers 10.9 (69), Casey Fields, Saturday, August 20, 2pm

Troy Davis: Troy conceded just one goal late in the game, so he was defensively very good. He won more of the ball this week.

Matthew Bate: He was very good. Bater kicked two goals, had 24 touches and took nine marks. His leadership was outstanding. He went into the midfield half-way through the last quarter and made an immediate impact.

Matthew Warnock: Matty was very good. He was back to his defensive best against a quality player in Ben McKinley. He took eight marks and his leadership was outstanding.

Tom McDonald: Tom’s spoiling was excellent. He had 10 for the match, but he needs to keep working on his strength for his defensive positioning.

Jack Fitzpatrick: He showed some promising signs, but didn’t quite deliver on the day. He showed genuine speed and promise in the air, which was encouraging though.

Tom McNamara: Tom was very good. He accumulated 27 disposals. His attacking spread was a feature of his game. In tight, he competed hard again and had a major influence over clearances. If he keeps working on his defensive transition running or positioning, he will become a more complete footballer.

Robert Campbell: Rob was very good. He had an enthralling duel with Hamish McIntosh and Majak Daw in the ruck. Rob had a big impact on the game. Some of his taps were outstanding and his organisation at stoppage was first class. He positioned himself really well at times.

Neville Jetta: Nev was excellent. He had 28 touches, kicked two goals and laid five tackles. He spent time in the midfield and up forward. He found himself in excellent positions during transition and was smart with his work-rate. He made a big impact at stoppages as well.

Addam Maric: He looked lively for most of the game, before succumbing to a foot complaint at three quarter-time, which kept him off for the entire final term.

Daniel Nicholson: At times, Dan provided run-and-carry and used the ball efficiently. But he made a lot of kicking errors, which tarnished his game. He ended up with 16 disposals, six team acts and four marks. He played mainly at half-back.

Kelvin Lawrence: Kel was good. He started very well, with two first quarter goals. One came from a tackle and another came from chasing pressure. He didn’t have the same impact after that.

Rohan Bail: Rohan was good in his first senior VFL game for the season. He settled into stride very quickly and had 22 touches. He naturally tired in the final quarter, given it was just his second match back from injury, but his run was there, along with some really efficient handball. He had eight team acts and was really impressive.

Max Gawn: Max was very good. He combined magnificently with Robert Campbell against Hamish McIntosh and Majak Daw. He collected 15 touches, had five marks and kicked a goal. He looked dangerous up forward at times and could have had another three marks, when resting up there. He made some really good positioning around the ground.

Cameron Johnston: Cam had 31 touches and impressed at half-back/wing. He played really well. Cam has now put himself into senior VFL contention.

Austin Wonaeamirri: Aussie unfortunately got injured and hurt his ankle in the second quarter.
