MELBOURNEfc Chairman Paul Gardner met with the playing group and football department staff following Neale Daniher's departure from the club.

The Chairman outlined the board's perspective on the decision of Neale Daniher to not seek an extension of his contract, and the club's subsequent agreement for him to coach for the final time against Essendon.

It was agreed by all present at Junction Oval to take the lead of Neale Daniher and move on, leaving the events of last week behind and to now focus on the future direction for MELBOURNEfc.

Captain David Neitz said after the meeting, which lasted 45 minutes, "It was good to have the opportunity of an open and honest meeting with the Chairman, and now it’s all about trying to get the best possible outcome for the Club.   We all agreed to start looking forward to this week’s game against Carlton on Sunday at the MCG and ensuring the rest of the 2007 season gives us a good base for 2008."
