Colin Sylvia’s chances of taking the field for Melbourne’s Queen’s Birthday blockbuster have been boosted, after he responded positively to treatment on the blood clot in his right foot.
Sylvia was hospitalised after he experienced severe pain in his right big toe during and following Melbourne’s game against Carlton on Saturday.
Following the game, doctors were concerned about the blood supply to his right toe and transferred him to hospital, where a test revealed a clot in the main artery on the top of his right foot.
Since arriving in hospital, Colin has responded well to treatment, and will return to training on Friday.
General Manager of Football, Chris Connolly, said, “We have seen some improvement in Colin’s condition, to the point that his specialist has cleared him to train with the team on Friday.
“The match committee will now assess his training, and consider him for selection against Collingwood on Monday.”
Sylvia starred for Melbourne in last year’s Queen’s Birthday match, gathering 32 possessions and kicking three goals.
