Melbourne had one victory on Sunday, with our team of Young Demons members outmuscling Richmond in the second annual Berry Street Never Give Up Tug-of-war.
The win means that the tally is locked at one win for each team – but, most importantly, the tug-of-war symbolises Berry Street’s philosophy to never give up on children.
Outside the ground, Berry Street volunteers collected $5,517.50 from generous Melbourne and Richmond supporters.
Berry Street never gives up on children and young people who have suffered great distress and significant harm, and this money will help them to continue their efforts.
Many of those who are cared for by Berry Street have grown up in families where violence, chronic neglect, substance abuse, mental illness and poverty have prevented them from having a good childhood.
