THE WOMEN of Melbourne ‘Dare to Dream’ dinner, held on Tuesday 6 September at the ‘G, lived up to expectations as an event not to be missed on the MFC calendar!

The 240 guests were littered with prizes and gift bags in a highly entertaining and engaging evening that raised over $15,000 for the Club’s Dare to Dream community program.

Dare to Dream is a joint initiative of the Melbourne Football Club, the YWCA and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund, which aims to lift the aspirational landscape of at risk girls in the City of Casey.

Tiffany Cherry did an amazing job as host of the evening, and comedian Cal Wilson made sure that everyone in the room was in high spirits.

Not to be outdone, Nova radio personality, Ash Williams, hosted the ‘price is right’ segment, which had the room buzzing with excitement. At one point, he even convinced respected MFC Board member, Peter Spargo  - or as he is now known, the ‘Spargonator’- to come up on stage and put in his bid for the great prizes on offer.

The night was inspired by the leadership of MFC Board member, Karen Hayes, who has worked tirelessly to connect the Club to its female audience.

“I couldn’t believe the energy in the room and the amount of people who got behind the Women of Melbourne to support this worthy cause,” she said.

Karen was well supported by MFC No. 1 female ticket holder, Terry Bracks, along with Minister for Mental Health, Women's Affairs and Community Services, Mary Wooldridge, fashion icon, Anthea Crawford, and past Melburnian of the year and Breast Cancer Network Australia founder, Lyn Swinburne.

“The night was a great mix of fun and entertainment, but there was something bigger behind it. The fact that everyone in the room was there to support the young girls who will be going through the Dare to Dream program tells you a lot about the Women of Melbourne and Melbourne supporters in general. We really do care about the community that we are a part of,” she said.

“This event will be even bigger and better next year. I can’t wait.”
