CASEY coach Brad Gotch runs through the Melbourne-listed players who played for the Scorpions in round 19

Seniors
Casey Scorpions 18.12 (120) d. Sandringham 9.5 (59), Casey Fields, Sunday, August 7, 2pm

Cale Morton: Cale was probably our best player. His effort and attitude are summed up by his 32 possessions. He worked really hard, and was a great contributor.

Matthew Warnock: Matthew was just about impassable at times - he played a really valuable role. But he wasn’t just defensive - he also got a lot of the ball to set us up to launch attacks. It was a great game for him.

Sam Blease: Sammy was on early, showing a great attitude and commitment, and really making a statement. He was diving in, laying strong tackles, which is an area he has made big improvements with this season - then we observed his trademark running as well, so his effort was really good to see.

Daniel Nicholson: Daniel wasn’t as clean as he could have been, but he had a really good attitude, and with his long raking kick from half-back, he really helped to set up a number of attacking moves for us.

Troy Davis: Troy’s a good young player, and he’s really going from strength to strength. He was playing in a defensive group that didn’t concede a goal in the first half, so it was a very good game from him. He got tired a bit later on, but he put in a fantastic effort.

Addam Maric: Addam worked really hard, and had a good all round game, not only with his own goal kicking, but with setting up a few others, and contributing through the midfield.

Jamie Bennell: We put Jamie in the back line, so he had to work pretty hard. He was determined to make a statement, and he did that with his run from his defence, his attacking play, and his overall approach.

Tom McDonald: We’ve really missed Tom in recent weeks. He’s a big guy who contributes not only at contests, but provides great rebound from defence. He really makes a difference - he’s a young player who has a mature attitude, and in this game he was really solid, and a valuable part of the chemistry of the defensive unit.

Neville Jetta: Neville missed last week’s game because he was attending a funeral. This week he made the same sort of contribution as when he last played. He kicked three goals, and he provided great chemistry with his tackling and chasing.

Tom McNamara: Tom had a big impact, which was emphasised by his two goals in the third quarter. He played on the wing, and came through the midfield, and was a really useful contributor throughout the game.

Jack Fitzpatrick: It was Jack’s first game for a while in the seniors. He took on the second ruck role, and lined up in the forward line as well. He had a hand in a couple of goals, and there’s no doubt that he’ll get better and gain more confidence as the weeks go on.

Colin Sylvia: Colin displayed a first class attitude. He showed great resolve, and there was no doubt that he meant business. He had a role to play, and his physical strength was fantastic at the stoppages. He was freed up a bit when we were eight goals up, and obviously enjoyed playing - he’ll be better for the experience.

Kelvin Lawrence: Kelvin came to the seniors after having twenty tackles in the reserves. He had ten tackles, and four chases, and had a hand in the goal scoring. He was important in the dynamics of the game, and showed himself to be a pressure forward. We knew he had that in him, and it was good to see.

Liam Jurrah: As well as kicking three goals of his own, LJ set up a couple of other goals, and played up the ground a bit. He worked hard around the ground, and made an impact. He enjoyed himself, and showed great commitment throughout the game.

Robert Campbell: Rob played in the ruck, and proved to be one of our most valuable players for this game. His work enabled many clearances, and his leadership to provide direction around the ground simply couldn’t be measured. He certainly played his part, and was very good.

Reserves
Cameron Johnston: Cameron had 26 possessions, playing at half-back and on the wing. He would have gained a great deal of confidence from the experience, and has a fantastic attitude.

Lucas Cook: Lucas had the freedom to run around, get touches, break the shackles, and enjoy his footy. He was part of a 100 point win, and he kicked a goal, so he had a good run.
