Cameron Bruce has agreed to a new three year deal with MELBOURNEfc that will see him with the club until the end of 2010.

Bruce, 27, originally from Beaumaris, played his junior football with Melbourne High School Old Boys. He has played 146 games with MELBOURNEfc, kicking 173 goals.

General Manager Recruiting and List Management, Craig Cameron said, “He has played all his AFL football with Melbourne after starting in the reserves while on the supplementary list. He has developed into a genuine footballer that can play in almost every position on the ground and against all types of opponents.

“Cameron continues to improve in all areas of his game and we should see the best of him over this next period of his AFL career. Cameron is an absolute professional the way he prepares for games, his work ethic, leadership traits, and on match days.”

Bruce said, “It’s fantastic to know that I’ll be here for at least another three years. It’s a great club to play for, and the environment in which we work is fantastic. I think we are improving as a list with a good balance of young and experienced players that should mature over the next few years and hopefully lead to some success.

“I’m exceptionally delighted to be playing with Melbourne and can’t wait for the season to begin this Friday night against St Kilda at the MCG.”

Bruce is part of the five-man leadership group at MELBOURNEfc and with the completion of this contract will receive life membership with the club.

Bruce was drafted by MELBOURNEfc in the 1999 National Draft, a fifth round selection, number 64 overall. Bruce played all 24 matches in 2006 including Melbourne’s two finals appearances. He finished runner-up in the club’s Championship award in 2006 after a superb year.
