WHILST the game against Port Adelaide is not until Saturday, Max Gawn, Clint Bartram, Josh Tynan and Rory Taggart have been conducting community visits in Northern Territory since Wednesday.

The players have been running clinics and visiting hospitals and schools in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Max Gawn’s height was a novelty amongst the excitable children and mascot ‘Chuck’ was very popular. Giveaways and signatures from the players were highly sort after!

An important part of the visits has been to supports the University of Melbourne’s quest to cure trachoma - a bacterial infection of the eye that is prevalent in indigenous communities. During the clinics and visits, the players have been educating the children on how to maintain healthy eyes through regular cleaning.

Max Gawn said, “The clinics have been great - the kids have been amazing and have better skills than me already! They’ve been willing to learn about trachoma and the dangers behind it. We’ve been teaching them the motto ‘Clean faces, strong eyes’.”
