CAPTAIN Kate Hore and defender Gabby Colvin have both been withdrawn from Narrm’s Week 9 match against Hawthorn in Cairns.
The pair, having made the trip north, will sit out the clash due to respective concerns.
Narrm’s Head of AFLW Jessie Mulholland provided an update on Hore, who sustained a minor quad strain earlier in the week.
“Kate felt some awareness in her quad following Tuesday’s session and was sent for a scan as a result,” Mulholland said.
“She presented really well and managed to get through our final session on Thursday, but has pulled up a bit sore in her quad this morning.
“We have taken a precautionary approach with Kate, and are hopeful she will only be sidelined for tonight’s game.”
Colvin, who suffered a concussion during Week 7, will also miss, following a further head knock at training.
Despite initially being cleared and expected to make a return to the side, the 33-year-old experienced delayed symptoms and will re-enter the concussion protocols as a result.
“Although Gab travelled with our team, she has experienced some symptoms today that indicate she sustained another concussion earlier this week,” Mulholland said.
“This is really unfortunate for Gab, and we will do all we can to support her through this challenging period.”
Saraid Taylor and Lily Johnson will come into the Dees’ starting side as Colvin and Hore’s replacements.
Hore’s withdrawal offers opportunity, with Vice-Captain Tyla Hanks to lead the side for the first time.
The 24-year-old has been part of Narrm’s leadership group since 2022, and is a highly respected member of the team.
Hawthorn will host Narrm at Cazalys Stadium from 7.45pm AEDT, opening AFLW Indigenous Round.
