The Trident Girls Football Academy, established by the Club, will return this year. The academy provides a unique opportunity for young female footballers to experience what it is like to be a part of an elite football club.
The two day program offers 30 girls aged between 12 and 17 an extraordinary experience which aims to build the girls’ existing football abilities, and teach them how to link leadership with values and teamwork.
The Trident Girls Football Academy is one of the many ongoing programs that contribute to the Club’s genuine commitment to women in football,
Throughout the program, participants will:
- Participate in a training session with the Melbourne Football Club’s coaches and prominent Victorian Women’s Football League players
- Gain an insight into the future direction of female football
- Assist in the delivery of the Melbourne Football Club’s Kids Clinic
- Receive media training from the Club’s General Manager of Marketing and Communications
- Have their photo taken with the Academy on the MCG
- Receive education on recovery and nutrition for football
- Take part in AFL Draft style testing and evaluation
- Learn about career pathways in the football industry.
