The Demons, looking for win number five for the year, have brought back key midfielders Tom Scully and Jack Trengove and mobile forward Matthew Bate for Saturday afternoon’s clash against the Blues.

Bate returns to the team after overcoming an ankle injury sustained in the Demons’ Round Eight loss to the Eagles.

Scully and Trengove return after benefitting from a rest last weekend.  The midfield duo have averaged over 21 disposals each per match in their first nine outings at senior AFL level.

That draft pick obtained in the Brock McLean trade was used to select 190 cm midfielder Jordan Gysberts, who made his AFL debut last weekend against Geelong.  Wearing McLean’s old No. 5 guernsey, Gysberts put on a near best on ground performance, gathering 25 possessions, nineteen of which were contested, and five clearances.

Mark Jamar will be looking to emulate the form he had when these two teams last met in Round 21, 2009. The big ‘Russian’ kicked five goals, which at the time, represented the most kicks he had ever had in a match. Now in his eighth season at the Club, Jamar has finally delivered on his potential, and is in career best form, currently sitting second in the competition (behind only Aaron Sandilands) in total hitouts and hitouts to advantage.

Of the outs, some tough calls were made at the selection table with Austin Wonaeamirri, Matthew Warnock and Joel Macdonald all omitted.

The team will have its final open training session at the Junction Oval on Friday, at 10 am.
