WITH Clint Bartram set to become Melbourne’s latest member of the 100-game club, his achievement also means he will qualify for membership of the Melbourne Cricket Club.

As Melbourne is an affiliated sporting section of the Melbourne Cricket Club, the prestigious MCC membership is now awarded to every Melbourne Football Club player who plays 100 matches for the club.

What this means for Bartram is that he will receive preference at the ballot.

Therefore, when he wishes to nominate for MCC membership, he will be included in the yearly intake of MCC members.

Most players will wait until the end of their career with Melbourne to take up this option.

The Demons already have seven players who have qualified for MCC membership: Brad Green, Aaron Davey, Jared Rivers, Nathan Jones, Mark Jamar and Brent Moloney.

Matthew Bate looms as the next most likely, as he is set to play his 95th match for the Demons this round.

Melbourne players who have played 100 matches or more this year will receive recognition of MCC qualification at the Melbourne best and fairest awards night.
