BALL movement coach Mark Williams runs through the 22 players who played in Melbourne’s 11-point win over Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Sunday

Rohan Bail: He did a great job on Simon Black, who is a champion for the Lions. Rohan’s kicking percentage was up around 78 per cent and he also had five scoring involvements. He continues to improve each week.

Clint Bartram: Barty was solid and did his job on the dangerous small forwards. He lost a bit of momentum, when he went off the field with a knock to his hip. But he returned and bounced back to produce a good game.

Jamie Bennell: Jamie was very lively. He did some very good things and played in front. Because he got in front regularly, he got access to the ball and was able to be involved in several important passages of play.

Aaron Davey: Aaron fumbled a little bit early, but bounced back and got better as the game progressed.

Lynden Dunn: I thought Lynden was in and out of the game. He took some good opportunities, but didn’t capitalise on all of them. We need more from him.

James Frawley: James played his second game since returning from injury. It was good to get another game under his belt. He had eight handball receives and is now starting to get his game back together and show some form.

Colin Garland: Col was good again. He had six handball receives and was important when we needed him the most. Col produced some timely spoils and was good in the contest.

Brad Green: Greeny’s effort was outstanding. He continually attacked the ball and his movement around the forward line was very good. He also laid some important tackles.

Jack Grimes: Grimesy was good and did some fine work off half-back. He was involved in handballs receives and produced another solid game.

Jordan Gysberts: In just his fourth AFL match and first for the season, it was great to see him get another game under his belt. Jordan did some great work around the stoppages, feeding the ball out with some strong handballs. His positioning was also very good.

Mark Jamar: Russian was very good with his ruck work. He gave us first use and ended up winning 34 hit outs and having a big influence around the ground.

Nathan Jones: Nathan was very good. He left nothing in the tank and his aggression at the ball was fantastic. He won more disposals this week as well, with 27 touches.

Liam Jurrah: Liam answered his critics with five goals, kicking some brilliant goals at important times in the game. Some of his goals were genuine highlights of the game.

Stef Martin: Stef was good again and just keeps building his game. He is showing good form and was involved in some more fantastic passages, whether it was down back or in the ruck. He’s really starting to hit his straps.

Brent Moloney: Brent had a fantastic game. He was strong and hard at the ball and set a great example for all of those around him during the match. He finished with a team-high 36 disposals and also had eight inside 50s.

Cale Morton: Cale came on and replaced Jack Watts as our substitute. It was Cale’s first match of the season, after injuring his finger in the pre-season. He came on and did some good things, but he needs to continually get involved in the game when he gets his opportunity.

Jared Rivers: Jared played one of the best games I’ve ever seen him play. His dropping off and marking was outstanding. His spoiling and aggression at the ball was also fantastic.

Colin Sylvia: Col was solid, without having a big influence on the game. He sent the ball inside 50 five times.

Luke Tapscott: Luke was solid. His attacking game was really good. He laid six tackles, which was very good, but he just needs to continue working on the defensive side of his game.

Jack Trengove: Jack was solid without being outstanding. He didn’t have a great influence on the game, but he was good with his contested possessions. He had five and some of them were particularly influential in the context of the game. Jack also had five inside 50s, which is more of what we were hoping for.

Jack Watts: Jack laid five tackles, which was really pleasing. His physicality is really starting to improve, but he needs to continue be more involved with winning the ball and using the ball.

Austin Wonaeamirri: It was great to see Aussie in and amongst it. It was his first match for the season and he was right in it straight away, which was great. He was important at times and registered four scoring shots, finishing with 1.3. Aussie will continue to improve and be much better for the experience.
