MELBOURNE has re-signed five players, including outstanding young midfielder Jack Trengove, who has extended his contract until the end of the 2015 season.

The Demons have also inked new deals with defender Luke Tapscott, ruckman Max Gawn and rookies Michael Evans and Daniel Nicholson.

Trengove initially signed a three-year deal after he was drafted at No.2 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft. But the future leader has recommitted to the club with another three-year deal, meaning he will remain in the red and blue for at least four more seasons.

It’s a great result for the Demons, considering he is one of the most promising players in the game.

Trengove has played 33 matches for Melbourne since debuting against Hawthorn in round one last year.

Tapscott has extended his contract for a further two years, after he also signed a three-year deal upon joining the Demons.

The long-kicking, tough-nut will remain a Dee until at least the end of 2014.

Gawn has also signed a new contract for 2012-13.

Evans and Nicholson are also locked in for next season as second-year rookie list players.
