MELBOURNE has signed Aliesha Newman as its third and final free agent for the inaugural women’s squad.
Although Newman, 21, hasn’t played in the VFL/VWFL competition, she played school football until switching to soccer in recent years.
In 2016, she was invited to trail for the Melbourne City squad.
She currently plays in the National Women's Premier League for Calder United.
Newman has been heavily involved in athletics, representing her state on numerous occasions in cross country and track and field.
Melbourne last week signed Laura Duryea and Meg Downie as free agents.
