LAST night, the inaugural Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award was awarded to Richmond player Daniel Jackson for his tireless service to the community.
The Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award was created this year to honour Jim’s legacy and his outstanding contribution to the community.
Daniel will receive $20,000 from the AFL, to be donated to the charity or community program of his choice.
The AFL called on all Clubs to nominate a candidate for the award. The Melbourne Football Club nominated Max Gawn.
Max has volunteered his time for many causes this year, and has had a genuine impact, showing empathy and enthusiasm when working in the community.
Max has been involved with three major projects in which he has gone beyond the call of duty. He has worked on initiatives such as the trachoma project, grass roots football and various education projects such as Kinder Kick. Max has also revisited his local club, Ormond Football Club, on a regular basis where he assisted with trainings and off field functions.
Max Gawn was recognised for his contribution to the community when he was awarded the Ian Ridley Memorial Trophy at the Club’s Best and Fairest in September.
