NATHAN Jones has capped off an outstanding season by claiming 14 votes in this year’s Brownlow Medal - easily the most by a Melbourne player.

Jones’ nearest rival was forward-turned-defender Jack Watts and co-captain Jack Grimes, who polled three votes each.

The midfielder polled votes in seven matches, including three of Melbourne’s four wins for the season against Greater Western Sydney (round 13), Gold Coast Suns (round 19) and again against GWS (round 21).

His one best on ground came against the Giants in round 13.

Jones also polled two votes in five matches, and one vote against North Melbourne in round 18.

Overall, Jones finished 15th in the Brownlow Medal, which was won by Essendon captain Jobe Watson.

Two Demons - Colin Sylvia and James Magner - gained two votes each, while Daniel Nicholson, Sam Blease and Matthew Bate polled one vote apiece.

Jones’ 2012 season was his best yet, as he claimed his first Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy - Melbourne’s best and fairest.
